Saying we had beautiful weather in August in Northern Virginia is rare. The temperature was in the low 80’s and the humidity was low. You couldn’t ask for better weather so I had to get out and soak up the sun and nature.
When the weather isn’t nice I sit in my living room looking out the windows at the birds and squirrels. I don’t feel as engaged watching from my window because they go by so fast and I can’t hear them. Three years ago Chantelle brought me a window box feeder. The feeder sits in the window like an old air conditioner. The feeder has plexiglass walls extending into the room about 10 inches so the birds sit inside and eat. This is a cool way to watch birds year round and you can add seed from inside your house. The problem is you don’t know what kind of bird they are unless you look them up. You won’t believe how many chickens flew in the box! At least that’s what I found on google when searching. Did I mention our cats enjoy the box too.

Last year Dominique saw how much I enjoyed watching the bird box, she decided to step up my bird game and brought me a “Bird Buddie.” What is a “Bird Buddie?” Once a week an expert bird watch comes to my house, stands by the window with binoculars and points out the birds, tells me about the birds and imitates their songs. This was cool until they got lazy only looking at the window box for birds and ate the seeds. So I scared them away and they flew away. That’s what you get shopping on the discount Chinese websites.
We then found the real “Bird Buddy,” Dominique realized where she went wrong. Its bird feeder with a camera that shoots still pictures and videos of the birds while feeding. Some of the features tell the bird name, video has sound so you can hear them and you can see other shared cameras globally. I won’t lie, I was a little confused when I saw my first “Tuffted Tit Mouse,” it doesn’t look like what I imagined. It also has an unexpected feature too, I use it as a security camera it my yard. We like it so much we bought another one.

This year I wanted to see the hummingbirds up close so I bought a “Birdfy” feeder. It’s a more affordable brand unfortunately it doesn’t identify the type of hummingbird so back to Google. It has a good camera and does a great job capturing the birds. It makes for a backup security camera too. Laura says I’m a little creepy, but I say l am just doing what I am trained to do.
I am prepared for indoor and outdoor viewing now. personally nothing compares to sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather watching the song birds in our yard. I pray I am blessed with many more days to sit outside, until then I’ll be watching from my feeders.
Love and Blessings

Those bird boxes are ingenious! We have a lot of birds, squirrels, and (unfortunately) stray cats that inhabit our front yard. Because of the way my husband's head tilts to the left, he is no longer able to look out the window, which is on his right side. I'm thinking of hanging a large mirror on the wall to the left of his bed so he can see what's going on outside. He is 100% bedbound, so I'm trying to think of ways to expand his horizons.
You already know that I love this. Renee
Hi David;
Who knew that birdwatching was so entertaining? It seems that we all come to that conclusion at a certain age! The younger people tend to roll their eyes, but the day will come when they suddenly "discover" it as well (if they're lucky).
