“Help Me, Help Them“ Chapter 91

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS, and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

In 2022 when I was diagnosed with ALS, I made it my mission to bring awareness and help fight to END ALS.

I do this three ways. Writing this blog is my biggest mission. It allows me to tell my journey, help others, and spread awareness. I have also participated in two major fundraising events supporting the DC ALS Association.

The CEO Soak was inspired by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and it has quickly grown to become one of the premier corporate engagement opportunities and entertaining events for the ALS Association. The CEO Soak engages community leaders to get soaked once again for ALS while raising critical funds and awareness for the ALS Association’s mission.

This will be my third year. I got soaked in 2022. My daughter Corina stepped in for me in 2023 because I can’t get my equipment wet. This year my daughter Chantelle will be soaked.

Although I am not getting soaked personally, I am always there to cheer everyone on. You can also come out to the event and watch.

For this event I focus on fundraising, and have been the top fundraiser for the past two years. I NEED YOUR HELP to make it three years in a row. Please donate today to support my fundraising efforts using this link.

The second big event happens every year in October in DC around the National Monument. The Walk to Defeat ALS is to bring hope. To raise awareness. To provide resources and services to families free of charge. To help unlock the mystery of ALS and find the key to treatments and a cure.

This is also my third year participating. For this event I focus on participants. This year my goal is to have 100 teammates, and you don’t have to come to DC in order to participate either. You can gather some friends and walk wherever you are. You and your friends can join Team Mission DuBois by signing up on using the link below.

We all have our own mission in life, and over time they can change. I am determined to do my part to END ALS. For 35 years my mission was to fight and protect my country through military and civil service. Now it’s time to help fight against ALS. I hope you will join me.

Love and Blessings.
