“Double Vision” Chapter 164

You might be wondering, where’s David? Didn’t he just promise in his last chapter that he was going to write a weekly blog? Well, I don’t have a red and white shirt and I can’t find Waldo either.

The truth is, I'm currently dealing with double vision and it has sucked the motivation right out of me. I've spent my time watching 3D with DV. Watching hockey with 12 players per side and four goals was certainly interesting. Go UU. SS. AA.

I thought surely the Optometrist would figure out what was causing the double vision and give me new glasses, but nope, that would have been too easy. Like finding Waldo with a solid red shirt on. We eventually discovered that the problem is my left eye. If I cover that eye with a patch I can see fine, but using my eye gaze is also more challenging. The optometrist recommended a retinal specialist, but it took three weeks to get an appointment. Since my vision was so bad before the appointment, I lost my motivation to write. Typing with one eye is like texting on a bumpy road.

At the Retinal doctor we were happy to see the exam room had lots of space for my wheelchair. Laura was able to pull up to each eye machine (yes, that’s the technical name), then she and my nurse propped me up to scan my eyes. The good news is that the retina, nerves, etc looked good, but the doctor thinks it might be an issue with my cornea, due to not closing my eyelids fully. The bad news... is that now I need to see a cornea specialist and I still have double vision.

I was asked “You are down to one eye, what keeps you going?”

My answer is simple: FAITH. And I'm not ready.

 Love and Blessings

The one thing ALS does well is to present new challenges once you've grown accustomed to the previous ones. Prayers for your eyesight to be restored🙏
