“Thankful “ Chapter 156

Have you ever looked back at your day or week and think, “Wow, that was great. I’m so thankful.” Last week was one of those weeks for me.
It started when my book, Beholder of the Eyes 👀 — (insert shameless plug 👉 now listed on Amazon!) — was selected as Book of the Month by a book club. After being chosen as one of three books up for a Facebook vote on Momma T’s Books, fans overwhelmingly voted for B.O.T.E. Why is this significant, you ask? Well, besides being recognized by thousands of her followers, the book is now featured in its very first bookstore — The Readers Depot, LLC.
When I began this writing journey, I didn't have any ambitions past this blog. My original goal was to share my ALS story and, hopefully, help others along the way. I never imagined that three years later, I would not only have written a full book, but I'd also be a published author with my work sitting proudly on a bookstore shelf. For that, I am truly thankful.

Thanksgiving week was the icing on the cake. We started the day as we have for years, with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. For the past decade or so, if one of the kids can’t make it home, we keep the tradition alive through a group text commenting about the lip-synching (I mean “performances”), the balloons, and of course, Santa. A good Santa really does make all the difference!
This year we were missing my son, who’s in Texas, and my daughter and son-in-law, who live in Baltimore. Even so, we kept our little family banter going across the miles. After I filled up on Liquid Hope (my feeding tube formula) and got settled, I tuned in to watch America’s Team the Cowboys bring home a win. 🏈 It turned out to be another great day, one of many this year.
People often look at my life now and might wonder, “What on earth do you have to be thankful for?” My answer is simple. it’s all about mindset. I choose to focus on what I have, not on what I’ve lost. Every single day, I wake up grateful for another chance to experience love, connection, laughter, and purpose. I have a beautiful life not because it’s easy, but because it’s meaningful.
So yes, last week was one to remember. Between gratitude, good memories, and a few happy surprises, I ended it with a full heart.
Love and Blessings.

Hopefully not treading into terribly saccharine territory, but I have to say I'm heart-fully grateful for having met you, David, and for the opportunity to see your writing change through 156 posts; B.O.T.E. is on my nightstand waiting for me to finish a nearly ended sci-fi novel.
I still can't believe you did it! I'm a "home office bookseller" for a large chain, it's delightful to see your novel getting book club attention and hitting the upfront tables at The Readers Depot, the first of many I'm sure. You're quite right, these are no small events!
How did you design and create the cover? Was it a living model in the photo? (can you believe that's even a question to…
That was so beautifully written, brother! The piece where you say, “People often look at my life and wonder…..” Such moving and impactful words. God bless you my friend!
WOOHOO! I'm so glad we could be a part of this journey with you. I've got B.O.T.E. cued up to read this week. Our family reads for 30 min every night together. I'm starting the club read tomorrow night. 😀
Here's to your journey and blessings. Have a great holiday season.
Momma T.
Staying positive and being grateful are also very healthy for you! Congrats on all your blessings brother!
Thank you for pointing out what I often find myself taking for granted.
