Isn’t it amazing how God is always three steps ahead?

When I started my journey with ALS and this blog my primary hope was to help others through my stories/expierences. God has blessed me with this so far. However, this time was different.

You already know I went to the ER because I was the 🚂 wouldn’t leave the station. You also know I was admitted to the ICUstep down unit because I was ventilated as explained in the last two post. Now let me tell you how Laura and I are lead to help others through God’s intervention.

Although I believe one person living with ALS is too many there’s an estimated 6,000 diagnosed annually in the U.S… Compared to 600,009 diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or 1.9 million diagnosed with cancer. We are a small, but mighty group. I could go on and say how it’s this or that, but so could the Alzheimer’s and Cancer patients. Bottom line it’s up to all of us to help each other when we can.

I would guess it’s likely there are  more than one cancer or Alzheimer’s patient in a hospital at one time. However, other than clinic days when we are called in on the same day. Having two PALS in the same hospital being seen by the same doctor on the same day has to be rare. God is always three steps ahead.

There’s many ER’s here I could have gone to for help on that faithful day, but I chose Fort Belvoir solely for the convenience of  being 10 minutes from home. I didn’t want to go to the VA hospital in DC where my ALS team is just in case I was going to stay awhile. It’s a good thing because it is 45 minutes away on a good day.

The second day at the hospital my doctor said she had a personal favorite to ask. I was thinking, "I know I am a popular guy trending nowhere, but I’m paralyzed neck down, no I can’t sign your chest doctor!” Instead she told me she was seeing another PALS down the hall and told her about me being there, and i was trached and she was thinking about getting one and had questions. Hmm, here I was thinking I was there to 💩, but the G.O.D had me there for other reasons. “Of  course I will, please give her my number.” God gave me a mission and I will complete it . I’m not going to lie I was looking forward to signing a few autographs.

Here’s where I know God is at work. Two days later Karen came to my room before checking out with her friend Joe. I don’t know why she was there and why the ICU because she didn’t have a vent and didn’t have a surgery. She also lives quite far from Fort Belvoir and her primary VA is in Richmond, Virginia, two hours away. I know God connected us and has more work for me to do.

In the end no one knows what will come out of the decisions we make today, but God is always three steps ahead.

Love and Blessings

God leads the way and lights our path. What may seem like a coincidence is just God's plan.
