“Suits Up” Chapter 51
Last year I had a dream that I was playing a card game with some friends. rt was a pretty normal dream with one exception... I had never played the card game before. When I woke up, I saw the game clearly in my head as if I had been playing it for years. I grabbed my phone and wrote out the directions, rules, and scoring system.
Later on that day, I explained to Laura what happened and showed her the game and we tweaked it a little. We then put the game through a few tests runs with friends and family. Through this I was able to get the final adjustments and “Suits Up” was born.
Over the past year, I have gradually lost the ability to use my hands to play any games, so playing Suits Up just isn’t possible. Now I play games online with my eyes and can play them with family and friends. But if a game is not compatible with my system or not computerized like my game, then PALS and others with limitations can not play.
So I thought if I was able to figure out how to blog and continue to adjust to my limitations, why not look into developing a game app for Suits Up. First I thought I would try Facebook to find a friend who has the app making skills. Of all my 755 friends I quickly realized how old my friends and I are and found out I could find more cops than computer programmers. I could probably get away with a crime before computer hacking.
Next, I put a post on LinkedIn where I have 321 friends, many of whom are my Facebook friends, but I figured I might have some luck. You would think I threw chum in the water, man did the sharks come quick. I must have that really good ALS blood. Within 30 minutes I had a bunch of people sliding into my DM. Funny enough, I didn’t know a single person but they all offered to “help me” for a price.
Act now and for the low price from $10,000-$80,000 and shipped to your door as soon as eight months to a year you can get your very own game app. But wait there’s more! Don’t miss out on paying extra for a marked analysis report ,a business plan and app maintenance. Really? I’m retired, ain’t nobody got time for that! All I want to do is create an app for my game.
With all of my new knowledge about app development, I took a moment to think, why do I really even want this?
Do I need to create this game for my legacy? I don’t think I do. I have my family and the work I leave behind.
I am blessed with everything that I need and want. I don’t know how or why this game came to me, but I know I have to share it. Maybe the app could be used to generate funds for PALS who need financial assistance to cover insurance gaps. However, I don’t even know if it would generate $1.00.
If Suits Up was an online game, would it still be played with friends and family around the table enjoying each other’s company like I did playing it? I certainly think there is more value in that than any money it makes as a game app.
So I decided, like I have done with many decisions in my life, to put it into Gods hands. If Suits Up is to be made into an app generating money for PALS, He will provide. Therefore, I am putting out in the universe for all of you to play and share. I'm hoping that one day Suits Up will be played by someone who has the skills or contacts to create the app.
Lastly, I hope you enjoy my game and the time with your friends and family and please leave a comment on the game and if you have any suggestions.
Love and blessings.
Introducing my game to you for the first time in public
Suits Up
Here is the rules
3-8 players
The game is based the four suits that have a priority order. Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, then Clubs.
Choose a dealer
Deal equal cards to each player by removing the lowest cards in the deck as needed. (Example: Three players 51 cards, four players 52 cards)
Player to the left of dealer goes first.
Each player plays a card out of his/her hand trying to win the book (books are 1 point each). The highest card played for each book wins. If the same numerical high card is played by two or more players the player with the higher suit wins the book. (H, S, D, C) (Example: 10 of Hearts beats 10 of Clubs)
Player who wins the book starts next round .
You must play to win, if you cannot beat the highest card on the table when it’s your turn you can “throw off” another card of any suit.
If you get caught “throwing off” and were able to beat the highest card for the book you lose 4 points.
The player who CORRECTLY calls out another player for “throwing off” gets the 4 points.
If a player INCORRECTLY calls out another player for “throwing off”, said player looses 4 points.
If a player wins all the books for the round he/she wins the game automatically regardless of how many points each player has.
First to 25 points wins the game.
Option 1
Add jokers
Jokers beats everything.
If two players play a joker in the same book the Last joker played wins hand.
Option 2
Pass 1-3 cards before the hand starts
When passing
First hand pass to the right
Second hand pass to the left
Third hand pass across
Fourth hand hold your cards
Repeat
Option 3
Play both pass and jokers
Team
Teams can be played with any even number of players.
When playing with teams of two, each book won is a team point.
David, this is so you! I love how family has always been your priority. Playing games has always been one of the fun things we knew would happen in our family gatherings when you were around. Jesse loved that so much while spending time with you and the family. He always came home motivated with a new love for a new game. I remember how much he treasured his last visit and his FRACKLE game he got to bring back home. I myself am not much of a game player and can't follow game rules for the life of me and I so remember his frustration trying to teach me how to play it, he said it's fun. Lol so…
💙
Dave, my friend. You are a great example of how we should try to handle adversity in our lives! Thanks for that and God Bless!
